Enjoy a historic day trip in Groningen. Today you will visit the Menkemaborg and the Open Air Museum Het Hoogeland. This day trip is, of course, fully catered. Enjoy authentic Groningen style with a complete group package.
The Menkemaborg in Uithuizen, Groningen, is a fully furnished house with gardens, canals, and moats, which together provide an impressive glimpse into life and living in a Groningen manor house in the 18th century. Verschoor Travel will introduce you to the Menkemaborg, showing you the rooms—the great hall, the lord's room, the study, the bedroom, the kitchen, and the cellars—all fully furnished with beautiful furniture, silver, porcelain, copperware, and portraits from the 17th and 18th centuries.

On the outward journey, Verschoor Travel will provide coffee or tea with a filled biscuit in the coach. This will get you to Uithuizen quickly. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed in the restaurant with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. Then, after a short introduction, you will explore the beautiful Menkemaborg Castle on your own. After your visit, you will enjoy a well-prepared coffee in the restaurant.
After lunch, we will take you to Het Hoogeland Open-Air Museum in Warffum. This open-air museum with twenty buildings shows you how people lived and worked in the countryside a hundred years ago. You will see a day laborer's house, a painter's workshop, a schoolhouse, and a café. There is also a butcher's shop, a blacksmith's shop, a printing house, a caravan, a bourgeois house, the houses of the veterinarian and the sexton, a guesthouse for elderly women, and a skipper's house. Before leaving Warffum, a cup of coffee and Groningen biscuit will be served.
On the way back, we'll stop for dinner.
