Program options

Texel

You will be warmly welcomed by your driver for a delightful day trip to Texel. Today we will enjoy a pleasant team outing together. On the way to Texel, your driver will tell you a bit about the surroundings we pass. We will make a stop near Wieringermeer, where we will enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or tea with cake.

Around midday we arrive at the Texel Ferry Company (TESO) to make the crossing. At approximately 12:00 PM we will reach the island and municipality of Texel. Texel is the largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands and belongs to the province of North Holland. The municipality of Texel consists of the island of Texel and the small island of Noorderhaaks, which is uninhabited. The name of the island can already be found in the historical district of Texla.

The total area of the municipality is 585.96 km², of which the largest part (416.14 km²) consists of inland and coastal waters; the land area is approximately 170 km². The average length of Texel is 20 km and the average width is 8 km. Upon arrival on Texel, you will receive a true Texel welcome. Our local Texel guide will greet you with a delicious “Juttertje” and tell you about the origin of Texel, as the landscape of Texel differs greatly from the other Wadden Islands, which mainly consist of sand and dune areas.

Lunch

In the Texel village of Oudeschild, you will be welcomed with a delicious lunch consisting of a cup of soup, various sandwiches, meat salad, cheese and cold cuts, a beef croquette, and sweet treats. In addition, a selection of coffee, tea, milk, water, and orange juice will be served.

Possible afternoon activities

Shrimp fishing:
The Wadden Sea area is one of Europe’s most beautiful nature reserves. Join the TX-10 “Emmie” for an adventure and experience our World Heritage site, the Wadden Sea. We take you on board for authentic shrimp fishing. We make a beautiful trip across the Wadden Sea, where at low tide you may even see seals resting on sandbanks. At high tide, they might swim alongside the boat. On the way back, the catch is hauled in and the captain explains the shrimp fishing process while the shrimp are freshly cooked. You will also receive explanations about everything else that was caught—truly special to learn what lives in the magnificent Wadden Sea. Upon return to the harbor, everyone receives a bag of shrimp to take home.

Ecomare:
Ecomare on Texel is a nature museum, seal sanctuary, sea aquarium, and bird rescue center. It is located in the middle of the National Park “Duinen van Texel.” Today, Ecomare also features the Whale Hall, where in a new and exciting exhibition you literally walk among whale skeletons. Not long ago, Texel was widely featured in the news when a whale washed ashore.

Texel Brewery:
The Texel Brewery. The brewer will guide you through the brewery and explain the beer-brewing process. Although Amsterdam visitors may already know a thing or two, a visit to the brewery is definitely worthwhile. At the end of the tour, the brewer treats you to a tasting of four different Texel beers, and you receive a small gift to take home.

Free time in De Koog:
Of course, it is also possible to enjoy some free time in the village of De Koog.

Beach activities on Texel:
How about enjoying the beach? After all, you are on Texel, and the beach and dunes are among the island’s most important features. You can take part in team-building activities, a kite-flying workshop, land sailing (blowcarting), and many other active pursuits.
