Family Verschoor

The beginning

The history of Verschoor Reizen began in 1924, when brothers Bastiaan Jan Verschoor and Jan Rokus Verschoor took over the local passenger coach service between Gorinchem, Hardinxveld and Giessendam from Mr. Van Holten.

Coming from a long-established family of inland skippers, the Verschoor family decided to begin a new chapter on land. That same year, they founded what is now known as Verschoor Reizen, originally operating under the name Gebroeders Verschoor B.V.

Their first route connected Giessendam and Gorinchem, providing reliable transport for local residents. The service quickly became known as "Heen en Weer" ("Forth and Back"), marking the beginning of a company that would grow into one of the Netherlands' leading specialists in coach travel, group transportation and tailor-made tours across Europe.

A family business across generations

Passing the wheel

For more than a century, Verschoor Reizen has remained a true family-owned coach company, with each generation building on the values of quality, reliability and personal service.

In 1964, the company was taken over by brothers Jan Verschoor and Adriaan Verschoor. More than two decades later, in 1988, leadership passed to Basjan Verschoor and Marjandel Verschoor, who further expanded the business into a respected specialist in group travel and luxury coach transport.

At the beginning of 2024, the fourth generation took the wheel as Chris Verschoor and Chinouk Verschoor assumed leadership of the company. Together, they continue to build on nearly 100 years of family tradition while investing in innovation, sustainability and the future of group travel.

The story is already continuing. A fifth generation has arrived with Lówen and Louá, keeping alive the hope that the Verschoor family tradition will continue for many years to come.
